Classes

Michael McEvoy will teach Pranic Hatha Yoga, Level 2-4, on Tuesday evenings, 5:30 to 7:00 PM, starting February 2. Expect longer holds, intermediate to advanced asana sequences, pranayama and mindful meditation. Previous yoga experience is required. Contact Michael at (773) 934-1923. Jillian Engbers will teach The Nia Technique on Wednesday evenings, 5:30 to 6:30 PM, starting February 3. Nia, a fun practice for all ages and levels, is an amazing full-body dance fitness work-out. Nia gently trims, tones and enhances muscle flexibility, builds core strength and works the cardiovascular system through a pleasurable creative practice that incorporates the movement qualities of dance, the martial arts and the healing arts. Anita Seth is teaching Transcendent Reiki, which is a practice to prepare you as a channel for spiritual healing energy. Each class involves a 20-minute deeply relaxing guided meditation, Reiki attunement, exercises, practices, and treatments. The class is intended to recreate the original teaching format of Dr. Mikao Usui who developed this natural system of body work. Anita Seth is a Reiki Master Teacher. She has practiced and taught Reiki for 5 years and has taught Yoga and Meditation for 28 years. Transcendent Reiki combines her experience in Reiki with empowering Yoga practices. Joshuah Miller He teaches Active Meditation & Working with Energy on Sunday nights from 7:00-8:00pm. $10 drop-in. This class will prepare you for the week ahead while cultivating the inherent light that you are and removing energies, beliefs, and pictures that limit you. Starting January 10, Joshuah will also teach a class on Vinyasa yoga Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. $12 drop-in. Both classes together $15. Contact Joshuah at 530-545-9390.

Raia Manjula teaches two mixed level Vinyasa Yoga classes, combining mindfulness and breath awareness. She teaches Sunday mornings at 10:00-11:30am and Monday mornings at 9:00-10:30am. Her website is www.devihealingarts.com . Contact her at 515-4114.

Steven Macramalla, Ph.D. teaches Chien-Lung, a Chinese Martial Art based on six animals--each embodying a different way of moving and meditating, and representing a different system of the body, part of the brain, and style of self defense. Call him at 234-8451 for more info.

Susan Merritt, the founder and director of Body & Soul, has been teaching Yoga for 28 years. Her training is strongly based on the Iyengar system of Hatha Yoga, which has given her a gift of working well with people with injuries and those needing individual attention. Fees

The drop-in single class fee for most classes is now $14. For multiple class deals and minor/senior discounts, see Class Fees.

How to join
Just show up at the class you want to attend, unless pre-registration is required. All fees are paid directly to the teacher.
When coming to class...
You may wear shorts and a shirt, or a leotard (or t-shirt) and tights that do not cover your feet. We avise you dress in layers to remain comfortable as you warm up and cool down. Please don't eat for 1 1/2 hours before class. If you have any physical problems or injuries, be sure to inform the teacher before the class begins.
